Sorry I might not have expressed myself as accurately as I would have liked, especially considering that you feel my perspective is unprogressive. I assure you, my work is progressive and has created positive change in schools and local communites.

I used the term “rhetoric” in a general sense of language. I was alluding to your language and not questioning the validity of experience.

Just like language, a lived experience is unique and subjective to all involved. I would therefore say that both of our experiences of racism are as valid as each others. There will be some commonalities and some differences but evidently we have both learnt that a change must occur for the betterment of our diaspora.

But I think the overall miscommunication is based on my use of the term “rhetoric” which wasn’t interpreted by you as I intended it to be.

Whether you call it decolonisation or any other term, I agree it can be unlearnt but it must be the society that bends as the individual does; since society conditions the individual.
